Are you stuck on an Excel spreadsheet, confused by statistics, or trying to prepare for an Excel employment test?

I provide patient, one-on-one help for adults, students, job seekers, writers, researchers, and small organizations. You can hire me for one immediate problem or for continuing instruction.

Help is available remotely by phone and screen sharing. You remain in control of your computer throughout the session.

Microsoft Excel Help

I can help you understand, repair, or improve an existing spreadsheet. I can also help you build a practical spreadsheet from the beginning.

Common problems include:

  • Formulas and functions
  • VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, and related lookup functions
  • Sorting, filtering, and organizing data
  • Charts and graphs
  • PivotTables
  • Conditional formatting
  • Spreadsheet cleanup and repair
  • Budgets, trackers, lists, and simple business spreadsheets
  • Preparing data for reports or presentations
  • Excel employment-test preparation

I can teach you how to solve the problem yourself or work with you to repair a spreadsheet that is not functioning properly.

SPSS and Statistics Help

Statistics often becomes confusing because it is explained with too much jargon and too little attention to what the numbers actually mean.

I provide help with:

  • Descriptive statistics
  • Means, medians, percentages, and measures of variation
  • Creating and interpreting tables and graphs
  • Choosing an appropriate statistical test
  • Hypothesis testing
  • t-tests
  • Analysis of variance, or ANOVA
  • Chi-square tests
  • Understanding SPSS output
  • Explaining statistical results in ordinary language

I help clients understand what they are doing, why they are doing it, and how to explain the results clearly.

Help for Adult Learners and Job Seekers

I especially enjoy working with adults who have been away from school, feel intimidated by technology, or need to learn Excel for a new job.

You do not need to be an advanced computer user. I explain each step in ordinary language and work at your pace.

I can help with:

  • Refreshing Excel skills before an interview
  • Preparing for an employer’s Excel test
  • Learning the Excel skills used in office and administrative work
  • Understanding a college statistics course
  • Working through a difficult spreadsheet or data-analysis problem

About Vic Napier

I taught Excel and statistics at Pima Community College for 14 years. I have an MBA and extensive experience with Microsoft Excel, SPSS, research, data analysis, charts, reports, and technical instruction.

My goal is not to impress clients with technical language. My goal is to help them understand the problem, solve it, and feel more confident the next time they encounter something similar.

Rates

One-on-one help is $30 per hour.

Small spreadsheet repairs or clearly defined projects may be priced by the job. I will explain the price before beginning any work.

How Remote Help Works

  1. Email me with a brief description of the problem.
  2. I will let you know whether it is something I can help with.
  3. We will arrange a time to talk by phone.
  4. If useful, we can use screen sharing while you remain in control.

Please remove or conceal confidential medical, banking, employment, or personal information before sending a spreadsheet or other file.

I help students understand and complete their own work. I do not take tests or complete graded assignments for students.
