Risk Homeostasis In the late 1990's I was attending Western Oregon University and took a class in Research Methods. I addressed the problem of Open Canopy Fatalities that the skydiving industry was facing at the time as a class project. I posted my paper on the old No Excuses Rigging web site and it drew a lot of attention, especially from Europe. One of the people from the US to contact me was Casey Findley, from the Auburn University Montgomery. Under the supervision of her academic advisor, Donald Self, PhD. we rewrote the paper and presented it to the 14th Annual Meeting of The American Society of Business and Behavioral Sciences in Las Vegas Nevada on February 22, 2007. Here is the paper we presented to The American Society of Business and Behavioral Sciences: Risk Homeostasis: A Case Study of the Adoption of a Safety Innovation on the Level of Perceived Risk Risk Homeostasis is a fascinating subject, and I'm still interested in it, so don't' hesitate to contact me with questions or comments. |
